The work that I chose by James Rosenquist is the work, "Sheer Line" (1977). I chose this work of art because when I first saw it, it called my attention and it made me think to compare its content with some important principles and values of life. An example of this would be freedom. This value is very important because without it, we cannot express ourselves and could not say what we think. Freedom is represented with the pen and the lip; we can write and voice our opinions. The imagery that I am using from the web is a pen that represents freedom, along with the bird. For me, the boat symbolizes transportation. My interpretation of Rosenquist’s painting in one way is different because it is my contemporary version of "Sheer Line," and I use elements of repetition.
