My proposal is for the outside of the Guggenheim museum. I selected this area, basically because of the design of the building. What were interesting about this site were the shapes on the sidewalk. The purpose of my design is to bring colors to the outside of the Guggenheim Museum, bringing art to the exterior of the museum.

The materials that are used for my proposal include fiberglass and colored gels. The fiberglass forms both the portico on the street sidewalk and the dome on top of the museum. The portico on the sidewalk reflects colors that fit the design of circles on the sidewalk. The dome gives an aquatic coloring on the building. My intentions are to let people to interact with the colors as they reflect from the gels to the Guggenheim in a wonderful environment.

Daniel Buren’s art did nothing but inspire me, especially the art piece in the Thannhauser galleries on floor 3 and 4. The one that mostly inspired me was Thannhauser 3 “Color, Rhythm, Transparency, work in situ: The Double Frieze, Thannhauser 3” because it leaves a colorful and playful background. I think that people of all ages can interact with my proposal because they can play with the combination of colors with the structure of the Guggenheim Museum.
