Since 2002, the Sackler Center for Arts Education offers multi-session, new media-based programs for high school students that are inspired by the Guggenheim Museum's permanent collection, architecture of the building, and exhibitions on view.

Students engage in discussions in the galleries and then utilize software such as Adobe PhotoShop, Flash, Dreamweaver, video editing, and 3D animation to learn about and respond to works of art.

Open to students between the ages of 14 and 18, participants come from all over from greater metropolitan-area: from private schools, public schools and home-schools. There are no pre-requisites for the course, merely an openness to learning in a museum. A formal interview is arranged prior to enrollment, and the $35 fee is waived for qualified students.

The high school programs are between 5 and 10 weeks long in duration, meeting for about 3 to 6 hours per week, and culminate in a large public presentation in the New Media Theater for friends and family.
