For my final sculpture I decided to use the sculptures that we created with the found objects. I did not like the sculpture with the found objects initially, but when I put it into an environment it began to take shape. The fact that David Smith placed his sculptures into an environment really helped my final sculpture take shape. Without placing the sculpture into an environment it really felt empty, and alienated. When I began making the sculpture I decided to use the colors of the actual sculpture with the found objects. Once I placed it into an environment I felt like it should be part of it. I added colors that were similar to the environment because I wanted it to be part of it. Overall it was really challenging in the beginning. Once everything came together it looked like a whole, inseparable sculpture and environment. |
